The Minds Behind Kotaline
Destany and Tyler Boyer met in 2021 at their local humane society in Pennsylvania, but their paths had already been shaped long before that by a shared connection to working with animals.
Destany had been managing a dog daycare, boarding, and grooming facility since 2016, gaining hands-on experience in the day-to-day reality of running a high-demand pet care business.
Tyler originally began college at Youngstown State University studying criminal justice, but everything changed when he started volunteering at a local humane society near campus. That experience made it clear his true passion was working with animals, not pursuing a traditional career path. He left school in 2018 and joined the same humane society as a kennel technician.
By 2021, both of them were working in the same shelter environment—sharing not just a workplace, but a deep understanding of animal care and the realities behind it.
The 24/7 Hustle
We spent our days in the field and our nights buried in scheduling and client messages. It was exhausting and unsustainable.

In 2022, we launched Wandering Wags with a dream, only to realize that loving animals is only half the battle when you're buried in admin.
